We have been here in Oklahoma City for a month now, and have enjoyed our time immensely. One of the families in our church here are fearless in their decorating and though their home isn’t “finished” (who’s is???) and they have some really cool plans for the future, I just had to ask if I could share their home with you all “in process”. Lucky for you all, they said yes!
Their entry immediately introduces you to the fun and joy of their home. Yellow and gray tiles on the floor, teal on the walls and a green front door. And, personally, I love the idea to put the china cabinet in the entry. It is filled with more color and fun, quirky items that are totally at home here.
The other side of the entry is home to some original art made from an expression of the heart of the church here in OKC.
The kitchen is to the right of the entry and nothing was held back here. I love the mix of colors, the rail road crossing sign, and the painted cabinets. Who am I kidding, I love it all, the yellow table, the navy accent wall, the teal mirror. It’s all wonderful.
The family put in solid surface countertops, subway tiles for a backsplash, an undermount sink, and long neck faucet.
They have a bench for seating along the wall and how cute is that owl on the table?
The stove is awesome (I know, because I’ve cooked on it), and the other side of the dining area is open to the living room.
The back door sports the same green as the front and I love the art hung on it. It’s a fun twist on decorative moulding. On the right side of the picture you can see the gray chesterfield style sofa with it’s green pillows. None of my pictures of the sofa turned out so you can catch glimpses of it throughout these pics. The second entry pic has it in the background.
The media cabinet. Notice the record player to the left under the TV. They have a wonderful collection of records and their children are totally benefitting from growing up in a home filled with really good music.
Again, I love the use of yellow in their home and this wreath is brilliant in my opinion. These hooks are between the media cabinet and the door into the garage that is their most used way into and out of the house.
This is one of my favorite views in the house. I love how all the colors play so well together and I love the coral wall with the deep teal/navyish chairs in front of it. I also love the painting and the raccoon.
The picture at the top of the post is the fourth wall in the living room and the teal piano is just too much in the most fantastic way. (You can see the other end of the gray chesterfield style sofa next to the piano to get a point of reference.)
So what’s your favorite part? Personally, I love the mix of color. This home has motivated me to be a bit more daring with color in my own home, and, of course, I’ll be sharing it with you all.
