Butterscotch Dessert Coffee

Last year, at Halloween, we bought some butterscotch schnapps to go in some adult butter beer. That was the only thing we used it in, so it was sitting on top of our cabinets for some months. I decided to try to figure out some other uses for it and ran across a recipe for butterscotch snapps coffee. I tweaked the recipe a bit, to better suit our tastes, and now RC and I love having a coffee after dinner. Here’s what I did:


Make one cup of decaf coffee. Add 1 oz. of butterscotch snapps and 1 oz. of heavy whipping cream to the coffee and stir. Top the coffee with some extra creamy whipped cream and then drizzle with some butterscotch caramel ice cream topping.


I have yet to be able to make this without making a mess, but it is so good that the mess is totally worth it. If you like your coffee even sweeter than this, you can add 1 tablespoon of the butterscotch caramel topping to the coffee with the schnapps and the heaving whipping cream. Or you can use a caramel flavored coffee creamer in place of the heavy whipping cream.


This has become one of our favorite after dinner drinks.
