I’ve told you before how much I want to like oatmeal, but just can’t. Well, here’s another way I’ve found to eat oats without eating oatmeal. And the bonus is that my kids LOVE this granola. Seriously, my pickiest eater asks for it regularly. When we were in southern Cali I made it quite often, as well as a chocolate granola recipe that I’ll share eventually, but I haven’t been making it as often lately because we discovered Quaker Simply Granola cereal that is almost as good and so much easier to just buy.
However, this granola has now become a treat for us and I wanted to share it with you. While we were house sitting last month I decided to make a double batch since I had a regular sized oven at my disposal. This is really just a simple granola base and you can add whatever extras you want to. Sliced almonds or toasted coconut would be awesome, as well as some dried fruit. My kids eat this in half cup servings and add 1 tablespoon of mini chocolate chips.
The ingredients are simply old fashioned oats, vegetable oil (or coconut or canola), brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, and salt (not pictured).
You can find the recipe here and I’d love to hear what you think about this granola and what add ins you tried!
